💞🪁 In amongst all that the world throws at us, there are rooms filled with people building new worlds and there are families upon hilltops coming together to remind one another that love exists despite it all.

I spent some of this weekend in those places where people aren’t letting the world break their spirits, even if it’s by only doing something small.

If you feel despair, whether it’s at the climate crisis or at unnecessary violence or any form of injustice, my only suggestion for an antidote is to show up, even when it feels like it won’t change anything. It will give you another reason to keep going.

Thanks to @ukycc_org for having @toritsui_ and I run a workshop filled with joy! And for @kitesinsolidarity_cheltenham for making us feel less alone. 💞🪁

🚄🇫🇷 I had a strange feeling of reassurance overhearing a conversation about the severity of the climate crisis while waiting for the @eurostar to Paris this weekend, to then get onboard and see someone working their climate job on their laptop. It's mundane moments like that which make me feel less alone and more anchored in reality.

'To me, the grounds for hope are simply that we don't know what will happen next, and that the unlikely and the unimaginable transpire quite regularly.' - a fitting line from Rebecca Solnit's book, Men Explain Things to Me, which I finished on the return trip.

♻️ Wearing hand-me-down trousers, a carboot sale knitted jumper, a charity shop blouse and years old boots.
🇵🇸 Little reminders everywhere that global solidarity exists.
🤝 My favourite hand to hold.
🇫🇷 A moment of sun and warmth and spring.
💉 A permanent souvenir by @lemalelune

🎨☀️ New #SolarPunk art just dropped ⬇️ 🔗 Link in bio to grab one for yourself!

🖨️ There is a pretty limited first run of these Risograph prints (on recycled paper, using vegetable-oil inks) so grab one before they go. They're all unique!

These were designed as a reminder that there are parts of a better world already in existence, if only we look a little closer and embrace what we already have.

Solar Punk is a genre of art and fiction that focuses on renewable energy, living with nature and creating a better world with both. It can look like free shops and alternatives to consumerism, train rides and solar panels and sharing food and re-using what we already have. My vision for a solar punk is scrappy and overgrown and full of spaces that have been transformed into something new.

Some of the examples on the print were sourced from my followers, so, thank you for the inspiration 😌

💚 Thank you for supporting my work as an artist - one of my 2024 goals was to put more art out there for other people to enjoy, so, here's to more coming soon!

💌💙 It's been a while since I had a print available but these are hot off the Risograph printer and soon to be available! A sneak peek of some #solarpunk art ready to be hung on a wall.

Just waiting on some envelopes to arrive from Vinted - yes, @vinted, that app has literally anything you could ever need ready to be rescued - and then they'll be ready for their new homes.

Love love love the texture and vibe of a Riso print! More soon! 💙💌

🍽️🌱 Starting off 2024 by talking about something I don't mention much - being a big, proud, plant-based eating vegan. (Not gassy, anemic or annoying, @bbcnewsuk 😆)

This January will mark 3 years since I stopped consuming animal products and although I don't often talk about it (as I believe food is very personal, you do you, eat what you want), it's something I'm really happy about. I've eaten more good food since going vegan than I ever did before, all in the name of experimenting and being curious. If something says it's vegan, I'm gonna' eat it.

Here are some reflections on 3 years:

🐖 Although I initially stopped eating meat for planetary reasons, going vegan made me realise, it's ultimately for the animals. If I have the choice to eat healthy enough without another being having to be harmed, why wouldn't I? I don't claim to have a fully sustainable diet but to have one that isn't built on unnecessary harm.

🐮 @happycow is your friend. An extremely underrated app that I'm always recommending and constantly uploading reviews to. The people who find vegan options in rural towns or unexpected places are my heroes.

🍽️ It has never been easier to go vegan in the UK. Admittedly, when I leave the country it becomes a lot harder but the UK has almost anything you could ever ask for in vegan form and more often than not, it's the same price or cheaper.

🔎 I don't think I ever got excited about food before going vegan but the fun of discovering new restaurants and meals that cater to a plant-based diet makes it worth giving a go. And I will always appreciate when I get a text message from someone sharing what vegan goodness they recently found, too.

🍜 @thecoconuttreeuk is one of my favourite places to eat. Whenever I'm in Paris, I have to visit @land_and_monkeys. I still think about @redbamboonyc (the only ever restaurant I've been to, two nights in a row) and @_thefriendlytoast.

🥛 Oat or soya milk for tea, coconut milk for hot chocolates.

This is not intended to be a bit of #veganuary motivation but if you have ever been tempted, just do it. It's been the easiest thing to commit to and never look back on.

🥹🎨 I've officially packed up my studio as an Artist in Residence at @thewilsonchelt and what a year and a half it's been!

When applying for my residency, I had no idea how much I would end up using my studio after being so used to working from home in my own little bubble but the freedom it's brought me has been incredible. No more trying to eat dinner amidst the mess of a half finished painting, no more feeling like my office was also my bedroom. A true privilege.

It's been so nice to have my work supported by a community of people in person too, to actually see how my artistic work can benefit and educate people off of a screen, and to have made friends with fellow artists too.

My studio - well, both Studio 5 and Studio 7 which homed me for different periods - saw me finally feel proud to call myself an artist, saw me develop and deliver an award winning (!) digital activist campaign in Zoom calls and brainstorms, and saw me grow in both my artistic and professional practices. I did my first group exhibition which I'm still incredibly proud of and was very grateful to celebrate it with supportive pals.

Opportunities like this are very rare; where you don't have to pay money and you have the freedom to do whatever you want. It's made me feel very passionate about building a future with more opportunities like it - where people can just exist and create, freely.

If you're in Cheltenham and ever visit The Wilson, although my name will no longer be on the building (replaced by more wonderful artists!), I'll still be around in other capacities and you can always find my name on the big map on the wall; a little bit of me left behind.

That's it for me in 2023! Time to switch off 💚🎨🥹

🥹💓 Getting ready to say goodbye to my artist residency at @thewilsonchelt and my little studio/office/creative escape that has been all mine for a year and a half.

I'll gush (and cry again 😪) about my experience in a separate post but for now, all but one wall is bare whilst I procrastinate taking the final pieces down and a stack of boxes with all of my art supplies is ready and waiting to go.

So so grateful to have had this space and this opportunity and I hope one day I can have another one just like it. 🥹💓

😌🪧 big lols when the biggest PR agency in the world @edelman is doing a report on climate change to understand people's perceptions of the climate crisis but its legacy of fossil fuel clients, highlighted by activists and @clean_creatives, follows them everywhere 🔥

Just a little post to show that this stuff works and will stick with them forever ✌️
